Step 1: Blot Stain Immediately

As soon as chocolate lands on your clothes, act fast and start blotting up the liquid as much as possible. Use paper towels or a clean cloth to soak up the excess chocolate before it has a chance to set in.

Step 2: Run Cold Water Over the Stain

Once you have blotted out the excess chocolate, run cold water over stain from the back side in order to push the rest of chocolate out. This will prevent the stain from sinking further into fabric.

Step 3: Make a Paste Using Dish-washing Liquid and Baking Soda

In a small bowl, mix dish-washing liquid and baking soda until it forms a thick paste. Then apply paste onto the stain and let it sit for 5 minutes. This mixture creates a chemical reaction that helps to lift the chocolate stain out.

Step 4: Wash the Clothing Item

After the paste has had a chance to do its work, it’s time to toss the clothing item in washing machine. Set the cycle to gentle or delicate and use a mild detergent. Depending on how stubborn the stain is, you may need to repeat this step a few times.

Step 5: Hang Item Out to Dry

Once wash cycle is complete, hang the item out to air dry on a clothesline or drying rack. Avoid putting the item in the dryer as the heat can cause the stain to become permanent.
