Whether it's an accidental splatter or a stained shirt from a late night snack, chocolate stains can quickly ruin a favorite piece of clothing. So when you find yourself dealing with a chocolate stain on your favorite flannel blouse, don't worry - it can usually be fixed!
What You'll Need
- Dry cleaning solvent
- Sponge
- White cloth towel
- Laundry detergent
- Stain remover (optional)
Instructions
- As soon as possible, scrape off any remaining bits of chocolate with a dull edge tool. Do not rub or you may spread stain further.
- Apply a small amount of dry cleaning solvent to the affected area and let it sit for a few minutes. Use a sponge to lightly scrub in a circular motion.
- Blot the area with a white cloth towel. Be sure to use a light touch and avoid rubbing, which could make the stain worse.
- If the stain still remains, apply a stain remover to the area and let it sit for 10-15 minutes before washing the garment normally with laundry detergent.
Tips
- If stain is on a delicate garment, take it to a dry cleaner or professional laundry service.
- If the stain is on a dark colored item, test any products you use in an inconspicuous area first to check for colorfastness.
- Be patient! It may take more than one attempt to get stain out.
