The first step to removing chocolate stains on wood cutting boards is to mix a small amount of detergent with warm or hot water. Make sure to use a mild detergent or dishwashing liquid so that it doesn't ruin the wood's finish. Soak a sponge or cloth in the solution and scrub it gently over the stained area to break down chocolate.
Let the detergent solution sit on the surface of the cutting board for 10 minutes. This will allow the solution to penetrate the wood and loosen up chocolate stain. After 10 minutes, rinse cutting board with cold water and wipe it down with a soft, dry cloth.
Next, sprinkle some baking soda onto the stained area of the cutting board. This will help to further break down the stain and lift it off the wood. Using a damp cloth, scrub the baking soda into the wood in a circular motion. This should help to loosen the chocolate and eliminate any remaining residue.
After scrubbing with baking soda, thoroughly rinse the cutting board with cold water and dry it with a soft, clean cloth. This will help ensure that all of the baking soda is removed and that no residue is left behind.
