Chocolate can be a delicious treat but it often ends up leaving behind nasty stains on clothing. If chocolate got spilled on cotton piqué, it’s important to act quickly and clean the stain as soon as possible. After all, the longer you leave it, the more difficult it becomes to remove.
What You Need
- Warm water
- Mild detergent (like washing powder or liquid detergent)
- Borax
- White vinegar
- Ammonia
- A soft-bristled brush
Instructions
- Using warm water, immediately blot the area that is affected by the chocolate stain.
- Then, mix a small amount of mild detergent with warm water until it forms a paste. Gently rub the paste onto the stain using your fingertips.
- Mix one tablespoon of Borax with two cups of warm water. Apply this solution to the stain and let it sit for 5-10 minutes before rinsing it off.
- Mix one tablespoon of white vinegar with one cup of warm water. Apply the solution to the stain and let it sit for an hour.
- If the stain is still persistent, mix equal parts ammonia and water and apply it to the stained area. Let it sit for an hour.
- Finally, use a soft-bristled brush to gently remove the remaining residue from the stain.
