The key to getting out a chocolate stain on cotton gingham is to act fast! As soon as you notice the stain, take a clean cloth and gently blot the area to remove as much of the chocolate as possible.
Next, pre-treat the stain with a mild laundry detergent or stain remover. Let it sit for a few minutes to soak in and break down the grease in the chocolate. After a few minutes, rinse area with cold water.
Mix together a small solution of liquid dishwashing detergent or soap and cold water. Using a clean cloth, dab soapy solution onto stain. Then, rinse the area with cold water.
If the stain is still visible after steps 1-3, mix together hydrogen peroxide and a mild laundry detergent. Apply it to spot and let it sit for 30 minutes. Then, launder the item as usual.
Once the item has been washed and dried, inspect area to make sure the stain has been removed. If not, repeat steps 1-3 again until spot is gone.
