The very first thing you need to do is blot the stain with a towel or cloth. Be sure to use gentle pressure while blotting and avoid rubbing stain into the material. Blot the stain until it has absorbed as much of the chocolate as possible.
Mix a solution of one tablespoon of dishwashing liquid and one cup of warm water. You may add more dishwashing liquid if necessary, but be sure not to make the mixture too soapy.
Soak the stained area with the cleaning solution for about 30 minutes. After 30 minutes, rinse the area with cold water and dab the area with a towel to remove any excess moisture.
Now it's time to apply a stain remover. Apply a small amount of the stain remover directly on the stain. Allow it to sit for a few minutes, then blot area with a clean cloth or towel.
Finally, rinse the area with cold water, and pat dry with a clean cloth. Make sure area is completely dry before moving on to the next step.
To heat set the stain, simply place a piece of wax paper over the stained area and run an iron over it on a low setting. This will help set the stain and make sure it doesn't come back.
Now that you've heat set the stain, you can launder the garment as usual. Before putting it in the dryer, check to make sure the stain has been completely removed.
By following these steps, you should have no problems removing chocolate stains from cotton denim. With a little bit of patience and the right cleaning materials, your clothing will be looking good as new in no time.
