When cleaning Cornelli lace with chocolate stains, start by using some cool water to dampen a soft cloth and gently blot at stained area. Do not rub or scrub the surface as this can cause damage to lace. Instead, simply use the cloth to try and lift up as much of the stain as possible.
Next, you’ll need to create a solution composed of half-and-half vinegar and warm water. Use a spray bottle to apply the mixture to the stained area and allow it to sit for about 10 minutes. Then, take the damp cloth and gently dab the area again. This will help lift the remaining stain.
If the stain persists, try using glycerin soap or detergent on the area. Take a small amount of the soap on a damp cloth and gently run it over the stain. Allow the soap to set for a few minutes before rinsing with warm water and wiping down with a clean cloth.
Once you have removed the chocolate stain, be sure to hang the lace somewhere that it won’t be touched by moisture. Hang the lace upside down (with the stained area facing down) and allow it to dry completely. When it’s dry, you can press the item with an iron set to a low temperature setting to restore the fabric’s original shape.
With the right methods and materials, removing chocolate stains from Cornelli lace doesn't have to be a nightmare. Although the process may take a bit of time and effort, with patience and understanding the task can be accomplished with ease.
