When it comes to dealing with chocolate stains on your shoes, timing is essential. When possible, act as soon as the spill happens. Blotting the area before the chocolate has time to set may avoid a more difficult clean-up job.

What You'll Need

  • White cloth
  • Cleaning solution
  • Toothbrush

Step 1: Blot and Scrape Away the Chocolate

Using a white cloth, gently blot or dab the stained area in order to absorb excess chocolate. If some of the chocolate has already dried, use a soft-bristled brush or toothbrush to scrape it off.

Step 2: Make a Cleaning Solution

Mix one teaspoon of gentle liquid detergent with a cup of cool water. Dab the cleaning solution onto the cloth and apply it to the stained area.

Step 3: Gently Scrub the Stain

Use a toothbrush to gently scrub the stained area. Submerge the toothbrush into the cleaning solution as needed.

Step 4: Let the Shoe Air Dry

Once you’ve finished scrubbing the stain, let the shoe air dry. Do not put the shoe in the dryer or use any other form of heat.
