Step 1: Pretreat the Stain

Before laundering, you'll need to pre-treat the stain so it won't set in. Dip a cloth or sponge in a mild solution of soap (dish detergent works well) and lukewarm water. Gently scrub the stained area of the fabric. Do not rub too hard as this could cause the stain to spread. Rinse the area with cold water and blot dry.

Step 2: Wash the Shirt

Once the pre-treat is done, you’re ready to wash shirt. Choose a laundry detergent that is suitable for the type of fabric. If you’re unsure, read the label on the clothing item. Place the shirt in the washing machine and use the gentle cycle. Do not overfill machine; washing the shirt by itself will ensure that any residue from the chocolate is sufficiently cleaned out.

Step 3: Dry the Shirt

Once the shirt is clean, remove it from the washer and hang it up to air dry. Never put a stained shirt in dryer, as this will set the stain into fabric and may also cause it to shrink. If the stain appears to be gone but there’s still a faint discoloration after drying, repeat steps 1 and 2 until the stain has completely disappeared.
