The first step is to scrape off any excess chocolate from the fabric of your suit. Use a butter knife or a spoon to remove as much of the chocolate as possible without causing damage. Use a paper towel to to clean up any crumbs or chocolate residue.
To start pre-treating the stain, make a solution by adding a teaspoon of mild liquid laundry detergent and four tablespoons of white vinegar to two cups of lukewarm water. Soak a soft cloth in the solution and use it to blot the stain until it is no longer visible. It is important not to scrub or rub the material, as this can cause the stain to spread.
Next, read the care label on garment and adjust the washing machine settings according to the instructions. When using a machine to wash your suit, it is a good idea to add an extra rinse cycle to ensure all of the soap is washed away. Use a gentle detergent for the wash cycle, such as Woolite or an enzyme detergent.
When the cycle is complete, avoid placing the suit in the dryer to avoid setting the stain. Instead, hang the garment up to air dry, preferably outside in the sun. Sunlight helps to fade chocolate stain and leave your suit looking clean and fresh.
If the stain persists after washing, it's best to take your suit to a professional cleaner. A dry cleaner is experienced in removing difficult stains and may have access to special products and cleaning methods that can remove the chocolate stain.
