When it comes to cleaning blood stains, there is one rule you should always abide by: act fast! The sooner you treat a blood stain, the easier it will be to remove. Here's what you need to do:
- Create a cleaning solution by mixing ¼ teaspoon of a mild detergent with a cup of warm water. Make sure your detergent is suitable for colors, as it can otherwise cause discoloration.
- Dampen the stained area with plain cold water before applying your cleaning solution.
- Using a clean cloth or sponge, start dabbing the stain gently with your detergent solution. Don’t rub or scrub too hard, as this could spread the stain and damage the material of your clothing.
- Continue dabbing until the stain starts to fade. Rinse the area after a few minutes with plain cold water.
- If stain persists, repeat steps 1–4 until it’s gone. If the stain still won’t come out, you might need to use a special stain remover.
- After you’re done, blot the area dry with a clean cloth. Then hang up your clothes to air-dry before putting them back on.
With these simple steps, you should soon be free of those pesky blood stains!
