Step 1: Blot the stain with a cloth

To begin removing the blood from the lace fabric, blot away as much of the stain as possible with a clean, white cloth or paper towel. Work from the outside edge of the stain towards the center to avoid spreading it. You may also use an old toothbrush and cold water to lightly brush the stain.

Step 2: Pretreat Stain

If the stain still remains, try pretreating with a stain remover or a gentle laundry detergent. Apply the product directly to the stain and let it sit for 20-30 minutes before rinsing with cold water. Avoid rubbing or scrubbing the stain as this could damage fabric.

Step 3: Soak the Fabric

If the stain is still present after pre-treating, soak fabric in cold water for up to 12 hours. If possible, add a few drops of a gentle detergent or a tablespoon of white vinegar to the water. This can help break down the stain and make it easier to remove.

Step 4: Launder the Lace

After the fabric has soaked, rinse it thoroughly and then place it in the washing machine. Use a gentle cycle and the cool water setting. If you’re concerned about color fading, use a color-safe detergent. Do not use any bleach or fabric softener as these products can damage the delicate fibers of the lace.

Step 5: Air Dry the Lace

To prevent shrinkage and fraying, hang your lace to air dry. Do not place it in the dryer. When fully dry, inspect fabric for any remaining stains. If there are still traces of the stain, repeat the steps above until it is completely gone.

Precautions

Before attempting to remove a stain from a delicate fabric like Venetian lace, always test the stain removal solution on an inconspicuous area of fabric first. This will ensure that it won't damage the fabric.
