What Is Twill Fabric?

Twill fabric is a type of woven fabric composed of diagonal ribbing. It is strong and thick, and it is used in many garments such as suits, jackets, and upholstery. Twill fabric is also popular for its more subtle, attractive diagonal pattern.

What Materials Do You Need?

  • Cold water
  • Mild detergent, like castile soap
  • Hydrogen peroxide (3%)
  • Grated soap flakes
  • White vinegar

Removing Blood Stains from Twill

  1. Begin by soaking the stained area in cold water right away. The sooner you remove the stain, the better.
  2. Mix 1 teaspoon of mild detergent, like castile soap, with 1 liter of cold water.
  3. Use a cloth or sponge to apply the detergent solution to the stain, using a circular motion.
  4. Rinse the area with cold water.
  5. If the stain is still there, soak a cotton ball in 3% hydrogen peroxide and dab the stain until it begins to fade.
  6. Make a paste of grated soap flakes and cold water, then rub it into the blood stain. Let it sit for 30 minutes, then rinse with cold water.
  7. If the stain persists, mix equal parts white vinegar and cold water and apply it to stain with a clean cloth or sponge. Let it sit for 20 minutes, then blot the area dry.
  8. Wash the fabric in your washing machine according to the care instructions.

Precautions

Take special care when dealing with delicate fabric, as hydrogen peroxide and vinegar can cause discoloration. Test all solutions on an inconspicuous area of the fabric first.
