Blood-Be-Gone! 6 Simple Steps to Remove Blood Stains from T-shirts

Getting blood stains out of a t-shirt can seem like an impossible task. Fortunately, with the right supplies and know-how, you can make that grimy t-shirt look fresh and new again. Here’s how.

  1. Remove any excess blood with a paper towel or piece of cloth.
  2. Run cold water over the stain for approximately one minute before applying an enzyme detergent or pre-treatment spray.
  3. Soak the garment in cold water for up to two hours.
  4. Rinse item with cold water until all the detergent has been washed away.
  5. Wash garment in cold water on the gentle cycle.
  6. Hang the garment up to dry and inspect area to make sure the stain is gone.

After following these six steps, your t-shirt should be free of any lingering blood stains. Be sure not to use bleach or any other harsh chemicals, as they may have a negative effect on the fabric and color.
