Removing Fresh Blood Stains
If the blood has just recently been spilt on your tie, then you’ll want to act quickly. Start off by removing any excess liquid with a paper towel or cloth. Then, fill a bowl or bucket with cold water, and add a tablespoon of detergent to it. Soak the stained area of the tie in this mixture for about 15 minutes. Once done, rinse the tie thoroughly in cold water. If some of the stain remains, try rubbing a bit of ammonia into the area, and then rinse it once again. Finally, hang your tie up in air to dry.
Removing Dried Blood Stains
If the blood has already dried before you noticed it, then you’ll need to use a different approach. Start by scraping away as much of the dried blood as you can without damaging the fabric. Then, mix one part water and one part vinegar together, and apply it to the stain. Leave it on there for around 10 minutes, and then rinse the tie in cold water. If there is still a bit of blood left, don’t worry. Follow up with a bit of salt on the stain, and let it sit for 10 to 15 minutes. Finally, wash the tie in cold water, and hang it up to dry.
