Before attempting to clean your sweatpants, it is important to identify type of fabric they are made from. This will allow you to choose the best cleaning technique and products for the job.
Once the fabric has been identified, it is time to remove the stain. For proteins such as blood, saliva or vomit, use an enzyme-based cleaner such as a laundry pre-treatment or an oxygen-based cleaner such as hydrogen peroxide. For non-protein fabrics, use a laundry detergent or rubbing alcohol.
Once stain has been removed, use a non-chlorine bleach on the affected area and launder as usual. If possible, use cold water. Don't forget to check the care instructions on the label before you start.
Once the garment is washed and rinsed, dry it in the dryer using the lowest heat setting and remove it as soon as it is done. This will help to ensure that the stain does not set into the fabric.
With a few simple steps, you can make those pesky blood stains on your sweatpants disappear! Make sure to check the fabric type and care instructions, and use the correct cleaning products for best results.
