Most people think that if they get a fresh blood spill on their slippers, they're done for. But that doesn't have to be the case! Start by rinsing stain immediately with cold water on the back side of the fabric, then soak the affected area in a mixture of cold water and a few drops of dish soap. Let the mixture sit for a few minutes, then rinse again. After that, sprinkle a bit of baking soda over the stain and let it sit overnight.
For older blood stains, you'll need to use a different approach. Start by soaking the spot in cold water for several hours. Next, mix together a few tablespoons of detergent with a few teaspoons of hydrogen peroxide and apply this mixture to stain. Let it sit for 15-20 minutes, then rinse with warm water. Finally, repeat the process until the stain is completely gone.
Slippers typically come with their own cleaning instructions, so check those first when dealing with any type of stain. In general, though, it's best to avoid using any type of bleach-based cleaners on slippers. Bleaching agents can cause material to fade and can also cause more damage to the fabric than the stain itself. If your slipper has lingering odors, consider placing it in a plastic bag and leaving it to sit in a warm sunny spot for a day.
