Cleaning Blood Stains with Water

If the blood stain is relatively fresh and hasn’t had time to set, rinse it with cold water as soon as possible. Blot the area with a clean cloth or rag to absorb the liquid. Avoid rubbing the fabric as it can damage it. Repeat the blotting process until the stain is gone.

Using Detergent or Soap

If plain water fails to do trick, add a small amount of gentle laundry detergent or soap to help break up the stain. Mix a few drops of detergent with cold water and soak stained area. Blot the area again with a damp cloth until the stain is gone. Rinse the area with cool water and blot dry.

Treating Difficult Blood Stains

For more stubborn stains, use an equal mixture of hydrogen peroxide and water. Soak a cotton ball in the mixture and dab at the stain until it is gone. Avoid rubbing the fabric as it can cause the fabric to tear. Rinse the area with cold water and blot dry.

Stain Removal Tips

  • Be sure to act quickly when attempting to remove blood stains from skirts since the longer the stain sits, the harder it will be to get rid of it.
  • Always test any cleaning product or method on a hidden part of the skirt before using on the stain to ensure it doesn’t cause any discoloration or damage.
  • If the stain is still present after trying to remove it, take skirt to a professional dry cleaner.
