The first rule of dealing with a blood stain is to act quickly! As soon as you spot the culprit, use a clean, white cloth or paper towel to blot the stain. Do not rub the area as this will only cause the stain to spread and embed itself deeper into the fibers of the fabric.
Fill a bowl with cold water and add a tablespoon of mild laundry detergent. Submerge the stained area in the water and let it soak for at least 10 minutes. Avoid using hot water as this might set the stain and make it harder to remove.
After soaking, you can now apply a small amount of enzyme-based stain remover directly onto the affected area. Work the cleaner into the stain using a soft brush and then let it sit for around 15 minutes. Next, rinse the fabric with cold water. If the stain isn’t completely gone, repeat process until it’s gone.
Once you have removed the stain, leave the fabric to hang up and air-dry naturally. Do not put it in the dryer as this could cause stain to set permanently!
