What You’ll Need

  • Cold water
  • Mild detergent
  • Hydrogen peroxide
  • White cloth
  • Fresh towel

Instructions

  1. Begin by immediately soaking the affected area with cold water. This will prevent the blood from setting deeper into the fabric.
  2. Mix together a solution of mild detergent and hydrogen peroxide. Make sure to use equal parts and to test the solution on a small part of fabric that isn’t visible before applying.
  3. Using a white cloth, apply the solution to the stain. Move the cloth in a circular motion, gently rubbing the stain. If the stain doesn’t appear to be visibly fading, reapply more solution as needed.
  4. Rinse with cold water and pat dry with a fresh towel.
  5. Finally, hang up item in a dry, well-ventilated area to dry thoroughly.

Tips

  • Always test a small area of fabric before using any chemical cleaning solutions.
  • Avoid using hot or warm water, as this could cause the blood to set permanently.
  • If the stain still won’t come out, consider taking the item to a professional cleaner.
  • Be mindful of any warnings listed on the cleaning solution.
