One of the trickiest stains to remove is a blood stain, especially on delicate fabrics like silk nylon. If not handled properly, stain can be set and become almost impossible to remove.

The first step is to always try to attend to a blood stain as soon as possible. Fresh stains are much easier to remove than dried ones.

If it's a fresh stain, start by removing any large chunks of the stain with paper towels or a spoon. Then mix together a solution of laundry detergent and cold water. Soak a cloth in the solution and dab at stain until it is removed.

If the stain has already dried on the fabric, you may need to use hydrogen peroxide. Start by testing it on an inconspicuous area of the fabric to make sure it won't cause discoloration or other damage. If the material is colorfast, soak a cloth in hydrogen peroxide and dab it onto stain. Repeat until the stain is gone.

If the hydrogen peroxide doesn't work, you may have to use an enzyme-based stain remover. Follow the directions on label to ensure it doesn't damage your fabric.

When the stain is gone, wash the garment according to the instructions on the fabric tag. Hang the item to dry, avoid putting it in the dryer as the heat could set stain permanently.
