Silk crepe de chine is a luxurious, lightweight fabric with a characteristic pebbly texture and wave-like pattern created by the manufacturing process. This elegant material has a slightly crisp, firm hand, making it a favorite for high-end apparel, especially evening wear.
Carefully blot up as much of the stain as possible with a clean, white rag or paper towel. Do not rub or scrub the fabric, as this may cause fibers to pill or damage the fabric.
Mix one tablespoon of gentle detergent into half a cup of lukewarm water. Pour the solution directly onto the stain, taking care not to saturate the fabric. Gently rub the solution into the stain using your fingertips. Allow the solution to sit for about 15 minutes before rinsing out.
Rinse the stained area with lukewarm water until the stain disappears. Do not scrub at this stage, as this may cause more damage to the fabric.
Lay the garment flat on a clean, dry towel and leave it to air dry. Do not wring, twist or hang the garment while drying, as this may cause the fabric to shrink.
