Step 1: Act Quickly

Time is of essence when it comes to cleaning blood stains from silk chiffon. The sooner you address the issue, the easier it will be to remove the stain.

Step 2: Blotting the Stain

Get a clean piece of white fabric, preferably cotton and use it to blot stain. Avoid rubbing the fabric as this will only spread the stain across the cloth. Furthermore, avoid using paper towels or tissues as these can leave behind fibres that will damage the silk chiffon.

Step 3: Making the Solution

Mix two parts of cold water with one part of mild detergent, or a non-bleaching laundry soap. Soak a clean sponge, or a piece of clean white fabric, in the solution and then apply it directly to stain. Gently dab at the stain in a circular motion, using the sponge or fabric to cover the entire area. Do not scrub the fabric or use too much force.

Step 4: Rinse Stain

Once the stain has been removed, rinse the area with cold water to ensure no detergent residue is left behind. Then, lay the silk chiffon flat on a towel and air dry. Do not use a dryer or put the silk chiffon in washing machine.
