Step One: Blot

Using a cloth, paper towels, or fabric scraps, blot the stain to saturate the fabric with liquid and work the stain out of the fibers. Be careful not to rub the stain as this could spread it deeper into the fabric and set the stain.

Step Two: Pre-treat

Create a mixture of one part hydrogen peroxide and four parts cold water. Conversely, you can use a biological detergent to pre-treat stain. Soak a clean cloth in the mixture and gently dab the stain until it comes out of the fabric.

Step Three: Wash in Cold Water

Place the garment in a basin of cold water and swish it around for five minutes to allow the pre-treatment mix to fully penetrate the fabric. Rinse out the stain and wash the garment in a washing machine using cold water and a small amount of detergent.

Step Four: Hang to Dry

After the wash cycle has finished, gently squeeze out excess water and hang the garment on a drying rack in a place with adequate ventilation. Do not put the garment in a dryer, as the heat could set the stain permanently. You may want to check the stain before you hang it to make sure it has been adequately removed.

Step Five: Post Treatment

For particularly tough stains, repeat steps two and three. If the stain still remains, you may need to blot the fabric with rubbing alcohol and rewash the garment in cold water. Keep in mind that rubbing alcohol can damage delicate fabrics, so be sure to test it on an inconspicuous spot first.
