Treating a blood stain on a shift dress is straightforward, but it's important to act quickly. Begin by scraping off any excess with a spoon, being careful not to spread the stain. Once the excess is removed, rinse portion of the dress with cool water and then soak it in a bowl filled with cold water and a small amount of laundry detergent.
Let dress soak for at least 10-15 minutes and then check it. If the stain has not begun to fade, repeat the process of soaking and rinsing until the stain lifts. Once the stain is gone, launder the garment as usual according to the care instructions.
If stain persists after several applications of the above-mentioned method, then you may need to use a stronger cleaner. Spot treat the area with a pre-wash stain remover containing enzymes, or dab the stain with hydrogen peroxide or ammonia. Test the cleaner on an inconspicuous area first to make sure the fabric will not be damaged. Let the cleaner sit for five to ten minutes before laundering as usual.
It's always best to use caution when dealing with a blood stain on a shift dress. Remember to act quickly and follow the above steps carefully to ensure you get the stain out and keep your dress looking its best.
