Rayon is a synthetic material made from cellulose and it can be tricky removing stains due to its delicate nature. Bad news if a blood stain has ended up on your rayon shirt or dress. Good news though: there are some tried and tested methods that will help you get rid of the stain in no time! Here’s what you should do follow to clean blood off rayon:

Step 1: Blot the Stain Immediately

The minute you notice the spot, use a paper towel or cotton cloth to blot the area. Try to absorb as much of excess blood as possible before continuing with the cleaning process.

Step 2: Scrape off the Dried Blood

If the blood has dried, you'll need to be a bit more aggressive. Take a butter knife or similar tool and gently scrape away the stubborn stain.

Step 3: Pre-Treat Stain

Create a mixture of 3 parts cold water and 1 part dishwashing liquid and use a sponge or soft cloth to apply it to the stained area. Scrub at the stain until it's visibly lighter.

Step 4: Rinse and Rinse Again

Rinse area well with cold water, then repeat the process with a mixture of warm water and white vinegar (1 part vinegar, 3 parts water). Again, scrub the area until the stain is gone.

Step 5: Air Dry

Pat stain dry with a paper towel or soft cloth, then let the fabric air dry completely. Hang it outside on a clothes line if possible.

Step 6: Repeat if Necessary

If stain persists, repeat the entire process. Don't forget to pre-treat, scrape, rinse and air dry multiple times if needed.

Caring for Rayon After Cleaning

Rayon can be quite delicate, so avoid using too much detergent when washing it. Fully submerge the garment in cold water and hand wash it only, or put it on the gentle cycle in your washing machine. Air dry the fabric, as drying it on high heat can cause shrinkage.

Conclusion

Blood stains can be tricky to remove, but with these steps and proper care, you should be able to get them out of your rayon fabric. Be sure to act quickly and rinse the area thoroughly multiple times to ensure that stain is gone.
