The first step to removing blood stains is to identify the type of material in the raincoat. Synthetic fabrics like nylon or polyester will be easier to clean than wool or cotton. Once you know fabric, check the care label for cleaning instructions.
If the label says “hand wash only,” then you should use a gentle detergent and cold water. Soak the stain in detergent and water then gently rub area. Rinse the area with cold water after removing the stain. If the label says “machine washable,” then use cold water and a mild detergent and wash on the delicate cycle.
If stain still remains, you can try treating it with an oxygen-based bleach. If the label says “Do not use bleach,” then try using a stain remover specifically designed for the type of fabric your raincoat is made of. Follow the instructions on the product for best results.
Once the stain is gone, rinse the area with cold water and hang the raincoat to dry. Never put the raincoat in the dryer as this may set the stain and make it even harder to remove.
By following these steps, you can quickly and easily remove blood stains from your raincoat.
