What You’ll Need

  • Bucket or basin
  • Cold water
  • Non-bleach laundry detergent
  • Dry towel
  • Liquid dish soap (optional)

Step 1: Soak and Wash the Stain

Fill a bucket or basin with cold water and add a few drops of non-bleach laundry detergent. Submerge the raincoat in the soapy water and let it soak for around 30 minutes. Gently agitate the fabric to help remove any dirt and grime that might be embedded into the fibers. Then, rinse thoroughly with cold water.

Step 2: Apply Dish Soap

If stain persists, apply liquid dish soap directly to the stain. Let it sit for around 10 minutes before rinsing with cold water. Repeat if necessary.

Step 3: Blot with a Towel

Once the stain has been removed, give it a final rinse with cold water and gently blot the area dry with a dry towel. Hang coat up to air dry, do not put it in dryer.
