Start by preparing pump. Remove laces and insoles and set aside. Submerge the shoe in a mixture of cold water and detergent. Allow the shoe to soak for 15 minutes, then rinse the shoe off with cold water.
Dampen a white cloth rag with cold water and pour a small amount of vinegar onto the rag. Use the rag to scrub the stained area. If the stain is still present, repeat this step until it is gone. Be sure to use a separate rag for each application so that you don’t transfer the stain back onto the shoe.
Mix a solution of baking soda and cold water and use a new rag to scrub the entire shoe. Allow the solution to sit on shoe for 15 minutes before rinsing off with cold water. For tough stains, you may need to repeat this step several times.
Mix a solution of oxygen bleach and cold water. Use a rag to apply the solution to shoe. Allow the solution to sit on the shoe for 15 minutes before rinsing off with cold water. This will help restore the brightness of the shoe and remove any remaining stains.
Allow shoe to air dry, or if you're in a hurry, you can place the pump in the sun or use a blow dryer on the lowest setting to speed up the drying process. Once the shoe is dry, replace the laces and insoles.
With some patience and elbow grease, cleaning blood stains from pumps isn’t that difficult. Just follow these steps and you’ll be able to get your favorite pair of pumps looking like new in no time.
