To start, use a blunt knife or spoon to gently scrape off any dried blood from fabric. If the stain is still wet, blot the area with a damp cloth to absorb as much of liquid as possible. Don’t rub or scrub the stain, since this can cause it to spread or set more deeply into the fibers.
Next, create a solution of one quart of cold water, ¼ teaspoon of mild detergent, and 1 teaspoon of white vinegar. Dip a white cloth into the mixture and carefully dab bloodstain, working from outside in. After you have covered the stain with cleaning solution, rinse the area with cold water. Repeat the process if necessary.
Finally, let the area air dry and check to ensure the stain has been removed. If it hasn’t, repeat the process. And if you’re dealing with a stubborn stain, try using ammonia instead of vinegar as an extra cleaning agent.
