Step-By-Step Instructions to Clean Blood off Parka

  1. Mix a solution of equal parts cold water and dish soap.
  2. Gently blot the stain with a cloth dampened with the solution.
  3. Continue to blot until the stain is gone.
  4. Rinse the area with a cloth dipped in clean cold water.
  5. Allow the parka to air dry or use a blow drier to dry it.

Other Tips to Work the Stain Out

  • For tougher stains, soak the parka in cold water for about an hour before attempting to clean the stain.
  • If the stain is particularly difficult to remove, mix a solution of one teaspoon each of liquid ammonia, white vinegar, and dish soap and apply it directly to the stain. Allow it to sit for 15 minutes before rinsing.
  • For silk or wool parkas, substitute rubbing alcohol for the liquid ammonia.

Additional Tips to Keep Your Parka Looking Good

  • Try to keep your parka away from direct sunlight as much as possible to prevent fading.
  • Be sure to never use a washing machine or dryer, as this can damage the material or cause shrinkage.
  • Spot clean with a cloth dampened with cold water and a mild detergent when necessary.
  • Always use a hangar or other flat surface to air-dry your parka rather than a clothesline or hanger.
