The most effective way to remove a fresh blood stain is to use cold water or ice-cold water. Start by submerging the stained area of your outerwear in the water. If there are any stubborn sections, you can gently scrub them with a soft cloth. Once you have gotten all the stain out, rinse the area with cold water again and let it air-dry.
If the stain has been there for some time and set in, you need to be a bit more aggressive with it. Start by dampening the stain with cold water, then gently rub a few drops of detergent into area. Don’t rub too hard, as this could damage the fabric. Rinse the area with cold water again and then let it air dry. If the stain still persists, repeat the process until it is gone.
There are several products on market that can help to remove blood stains. The most common is hydrogen peroxide, which can be applied directly to the stain or combined with water to create a solution. You can also try a laundry pre-treatment product, which is specifically designed to remove tough stains. Spray the product directly onto the affected area and let it sit for 15-30 minutes before laundering as normal.
