Let’s start with the basics - first and foremost, make sure that you use plain water to rinse away as much of the blood stain as possible. If using cold water doesn’t work, try warm water. You may need to gently blot stain to remove as much of the blood as possible. Don’t scrub or rub too hard as this could spread the stain further.
Next, create a paste of water and white vinegar. Apply the paste directly to the stain and lightly rub the mixture into the area. Leave the paste for about 30 minutes then rinse the area with warm water. Again, don’t scrub too hard or use any abrasive materials as this could damage the mattress fabric.
Still have a stubborn stain? Try mixing baking soda and hydrogen peroxide into a paste and apply it to the stained area. Make sure not to use too much as this could cause the peroxide to become too strong and potentially discolor the mattress fabric. Let the paste sit for 15 minutes and then rinse the area with warm water.
Finally, one last cleaning trick is to use hydrogen peroxide directly on the stain. Use a damp cloth to dab the stain with the peroxide and let it sit until the stain fades away. Again, be sure to use only a small amount and rinse with warm water afterwards.
If all else fails, you may need to call in a professional cleaning service or replace mattress altogether. But, follow these steps first and hopefully you will be able to successfully remove that pesky blood stain!
