Remove the Stain Immediately

It is best to attempt to clean the blood stain as quickly as possible. The longer the blood stain sits, more difficult it can be to clean it. If blood stain is still wet, rinse the stain with cold water to loosen the particles of dried blood before washing. If it is a fresh stain, pat the area with warm water and a few drops of white vinegar. The vinegar will help to dissolve the proteins in the blood stains.

Soak in Cold Water and Detergent

Create a cleaning solution by combining cold water with a laundry detergent. Submerge the stained macramé piece into the solution and let it soak for at least 30 minutes. Once the blood stain has been soaked, gently rub the area with an old toothbrush. This will help to lift the blood stain and any debris that may be attached to it.

Rinse the Stain and Air Dry

Once the stain has been brushed away, rinse the area with cold water and pat the spot to remove any excess liquid. Hang the macramé outside or lay it flat on a towel indoors and allow it to air dry completely. Repeat the process as needed to ensure all traces of the bloodstain have been removed.
