Removing Fresh Blood Stains from Kimono

If blood stain is fresh and still wet, try dabbing it gently with a cloth soaked in cold water. If this doesn’t work, try soaking stained area in a bowl of cold water for 15 minutes. Be sure to check temperature of the water, as hot water could cause fabrics to shrink or discolor.

Removing Dried Blood Stains from Kimono

If blood stain is already dried, start by sponging the stained area with a solution of cold water and white vinegar. This helps to loosen the dried stains before you start scrubbing. Next, rub the stain with a clean cloth soaked in dishwashing liquid. Rinse the area with cold water, then launder the kimono as normal.

Alternative Solutions for Blood Stains on Kimono

If the above methods don’t seem to be working, you may need to turn to some alternative solutions. For instance, try making a paste with baking soda and water, then apply it directly to the stain. Let the paste sit for an hour or two, then rinse off with cold water. Repeat if necessary.

You can also try using a specialized laundry pre-treatment spray or fabric-safe bleach to treat the stain. Be sure to test any cleaning products on the kimono first to make sure they won’t cause discoloration or damage.

Preventing Blood Stains on Kimono

Whenever possible, take preventive steps to avoid getting blood stains on your kimono in the first place. If you’re dealing with a wound, try wearing a bandage underneath the kimono. When cooking, consider using an apron to protect your clothing. Finally, always have a clean cloth nearby to quickly blot away any spills or splatters.
