How to Easily Remove Blood Stains from J Jill Fabrics

It’s not unusual for blood stains to find their way onto pieces of clothing, especially if you work in an industry where there’s frequent contact with animals. If you’ve got a stain on your J Jill piece, the good news is that you can get rid of it.

What You Need

  • Cold Water
  • Dish Soap
  • White Vinegar
  • Hydrogen Peroxide
  • Borax
  • Clean Rag
  • Absorbent Towel

Before beginning the process of removing your blood stain, always use cold water . Hot water will set stain, making it more difficult to get out.

Removing Stain

  1. First, create a cleaning solution. To do this, combine one teaspoon of dish soap and one cup of cold water.
  2. Gently apply the cleaning solution to stained area with a clean rag.
  3. Rinse fabric with cold water and pat dry with an absorbent towel.
  4. If the stain remains, mix one tablespoon of white vinegar with two cups of cold water.
  5. Using a clean rag, dab the solution onto the stained area until the stain is gone.
  6. If the stain still persists, make a mixture of one part hydrogen peroxide and two parts cold water and apply to the area. Be sure to do a spot test on an inconspicuous part of fabric first.
  7. Allow the solution to sit on the fabric for several minutes, then rinse with cold water and pat dry with an absorbent towel.
  8. If the stain is still visible, mix together one tablespoon of Borax with one cup of cold water. Apply the solution to the stained area and allow it to sit for several minutes.
  9. Rinse the fabric with cold water and pat dry with an absorbent towel.

Final Tips

  • Always use cold water.
  • Always test any mixtures on an inconspicuous part of the fabric to make sure there won’t be any color transfer or other damage.
  • Be patient. It may take several tries to remove the stain completely.
