The first step in getting rid of a blood stain is to blot the area with a clean white cloth or paper towel. Do not rub or scrub fabric, as this can cause the stain to spread. If needed, you can use a small amount of cold water to help lift the stain. Be sure to blot gently.
Once area has been blotted, prepare a detergent solution by mixing warm water and a mild laundry detergent. Gently apply the solution to the stain, making sure not to saturate fabric. Allow the detergent solution to sit for 10 minutes before blotting again.
Follow up with a rinse, using cold water and again, gently blotting the area to remove any residue. If needed, repeat the process until the stain is gone.
Air dry the fabric, taking care that it doesn't become overly wet. The heat from a dryer can set the stain, so air drying is recommended. Once the fabric is dry, inspect to make sure the stain has been completely removed.
