The inside of your sneakers can pick up a lot of dirt, dust and occasionally…blood. So it’s important to know how to keep them clean without ruining the material. Fila shoes, typically made of leather, suede and faux leather, are all delicate materials that need special handling. Here’s how to clean a bloodstain from Fila shoes.
What You’ll Need
- A soft cloth
- Water and a mild detergent
- A toothbrush
- A dry towel
- Baking soda
Step-by-Step Process
- First, mix a few drops of detergent into some warm water. Dip the cloth into the soapy solution and gently rub the stained area. Be sure to avoid scrubbing too hard as it could damage your shoes.
- Rinse cloth in clean water and then use it to rinse the soapy residue off of the shoes.
- Pat area with a dry towel or paper towels to absorb the excess water.
- If stain is still present, add a bit of baking soda to the cloth. The baking soda will work to naturally lift the stain without harsh scrubbing.
- Finally, use a small toothbrush to further scrub the area. Scrub gently and begin to see the stain lift away from your shoe.
- Repeat steps 1-5 as necessary until the stain has been completely removed from the shoe.
Additional Tips
- Always test any cleaning products in an inconspicuous area to make sure they won’t damage the material.
- Stains on white shoes may be more difficult to remove, but they can still be done with care.
- Make sure you allow the shoes to dry completely before storing them.
