Instructions

  1. Gently scrape off any excess dried blood with a spoon.
  2. Mix one teaspoon of liquid, non-bleach laundry detergent in two cups of cold water.
  3. Soak a clean washcloth in the detergent solution, then place it over the stain.
  4. Let the cloth sit for 5-10 minutes before rinsing it and blotting the stain with a dry cloth.
  5. If the stain still remains, mix ¼ teaspoon of ammonia with one cup of cold water, and apply to stain.
  6. Once again, let it sit for 5-10 minutes before blotting with a dry cloth.
  7. If the stain is still not removed, add hydrogen peroxide to a cotton ball and dab it onto stain.
  8. Once the stain is gone, rinse the peroxide off and launder as usual.

Tips

  • If there are more than one person handling the stain, use separate cloths to prevent cross-contamination.
  • Always test a small, hidden area of the fabric first prior to cleaning in order to make sure the cleaning method will not damage the material.
  • Do not rub the stained area as it may spread it even further.
  • Be sure to rinse the area thoroughly after the cleaning to prevent residue from causing a different type of stain.
