Due to its porous nature, cotton canvas is sensitive to liquids and can absorb stains, making the task of removing them more complicated. In case of blood stains, they must be removed as soon as possible since they can set and become harder to remove over time.
To start, mix a solution of cold water and mild detergent or enzyme laundry cleaner in a bowl. Make sure to use as little detergent or cleaner as possible, as too much can damage the fibers of the fabric.
Dip a clean white cloth into mixture and gently rub stain with the cloth. Make sure to blot the stain and not scrub it, as this can cause the stain to spread and make it harder to remove.
Once the stain has been treated, rinse the area thoroughly with cold water to remove any residue. Then, let fabric air dry.
If the stain persists, it can be treated with an ammonia solution. Mix 1 teaspoon of ammonia and 1 cup of cold water in a bowl and dip a clean cloth into the solution. Gently rub the stain with the cloth, then rinse with cold water.
If the stain still remains after the first treatment, the process can be repeated until it has been completely removed.
Removing blood stains from cotton canvas is a difficult task, but it can be done with the right approach and products. With patience and repetition of the steps outlined above, the stain can be successfully eliminated.
