Blood stains on cotton are one of hardest to remove, and many people feel frustration when faced with this task. But don’t worry! We have some tried and tested tips that will help you get rid of stain in no time.
Moisten a clean paper towel or white cloth with some cold water. Gently dab stained area, trying to get as much of the dry blood out as possible. Be careful not to rub the material, as this could spread the stain even further.
Sprinkle a generous amount of laundry detergent onto the stained area. Rub it in gently and let it sit for 5-10 minutes.
Set your washing machine to the hottest setting possible for the fabric you are washing (cotton or poly-cotton). Add a few drops of bleach to the load and start your wash cycle. For smaller items, like a shirt or towel, you can hand-wash them in a sink with hot water and laundry detergent.
Once the washing cycle is complete, check the garment for any remaining stains. If there are any, repeat steps 2 and 3 until the stain is completely gone.
Allow the fabric to air-dry instead of putting it in the dryer. This will prevent the stain from setting in and making it harder to remove.
Blood stains can be a real nuisance, but with the right approach, they can be easily removed. Using a combination of pre-treatment, detergent, hot water, and air-drying, you can get rid of the stain quickly and effectively. Remember to always follow the instructions on your fabric's label for the best results.
