What You'll Need

  • Cold water
  • Borax (can be used as an alternative to detergent)
  • Laundry detergent
  • Hydrogen peroxide (optional)
  • Clean white cloths
  • Machine-washable soap

Step-By-Step Instructions

  1. If blood stain is fresh, rinse the area with cold water as soon as possible.
  2. Apply a paste made from borax and a few drops of cold water directly onto the stain.
  3. Using a clean white cloth, gently dab the stain until it has lifted. If necessary, repeat the process to get rid of any residual staining.
  4. Rinse affected area with cold water again and then apply laundry detergent to the stain.
  5. Using a clean cloth, dab the detergent into the stained area until stain lifts and you can no longer see it.
  6. If any staining remains, mix together equal parts of hydrogen peroxide and machine-washable soap in a bowl, then use a clean cloth to pat the mixture onto the stained area. Allow it to sit for approximately 5 minutes and then rinse with cold water.
  7. Allow your clothing to dry completely and you’re all done!
