Step 1: Blotting

Using paper towels or a clean white cloth, blot stained areas of the t-shirt, working from the outside of the stain towards the middle. This should help pick up as much of the berry stain as possible.

Step 2: Pretreat and Soak

Mix an enzyme-based pretreatment solution, such as a liquid laundry detergent or a powder detergent specifically designed for stain removal. Follow instructions on the packaging or container, which will indicate how much detergent to mix with water. Dip stained area into solution and let it sit for at least 5 minutes.

Step 3: Rinse and Washing

Rinse the stained area with cold water. Once done, wash the t-shirt according to the instructions on the care label. Run the washing machine using the hottest water temperature that is safe for the fabric. Add a color-safe bleach, if suggested by the garment label.

Step 4: Check and Dry

After the washing cycle has completed, double-check the stained area to make sure the stain has been removed. If the stain is still present, repeat steps 2 and 3. Hang t-shirt on a clothesline or in a dryer on lowest heat setting.

Conclusion

Berry stains can be tricky to remove, but with the right techniques you can get your t-shirts looking good as new. Be sure to use cold water and hot temperatures when washing, and always read the care label for any special instructions before washing.
