The best way to remove a berry stain from tartan is to clean it right away. Use a cloth or sponge with warm water and a gentle soap to blot the stain. Continue blotting the stain until it has been removed and then rinse with clean water. Gently pat area dry with a towel.
For tougher berry stains, a white wine vinegar solution can be used. Mix 1 part white wine vinegar to 2 parts water and pour the mixture onto the stain. Let the solution sit for five minutes, and then scrub with a brush. Rinse with water and pat dry.
If the stain is still visible after trying the first two methods, you can try using a stain remover product. Look for one that is made specifically for removing berry stains, as these are often the most effective. Follow the instructions on the product and be sure to rinse the area thoroughly after the treatment.
