One way to remove a berry stain from swimwear is by soaking it in a detergent solution. To do this, fill a sink or bowl with cool water and add a few drops of liquid laundry detergent. Make sure to use a detergent specifically designed for delicates. Then, submerge the swimsuit and swish it around in the solution for five to 10 minutes. Afterward, rinse the swimsuit with cold water and hang it up to air dry.
If the stain has set into the fabric, a baking soda paste may help. Start by making a thick paste using baking soda and water. Then, apply the paste directly onto the stain and let it sit for about 30 minutes. Once that’s done, scrub stain with a soft-bristle brush and rinse well with cold water. Hang the swimsuit up to air dry.
White vinegar is a great pre-treatment for berry stains. To use it, first fill a bucket or bowl with warm water and add a cup of white vinegar. Then, soak the swimsuit in the solution for 15 to 20 minutes before washing it in machine. Be sure to use a gentle detergent like Woolite and the coldest temperature setting. Hang the swimsuit up to air dry.
For smaller, tougher spots, rubbing alcohol may be your best choice. All you have to do is dab a small amount of rubbing alcohol onto a cotton ball and gently rub it onto the spot. Don’t scrub too hard—just enough that it begins to break up the stain. Once stain is gone, rinse swimsuit with cold water and allow it to air dry.
