Removing Berry Stains From Swim Trunks

  • Laundry Detergent: For small berry stains, start by applying a small amount of laundry detergent to the stained area and scrubbing gently with a clean cloth. Rinse the area with cold water and repeat if necessary.
  • Vinegar & Baking Soda: For larger stains, make a paste by combining equal parts vinegar and baking soda and rubbing it into the stained area. Let the paste sit for about 30 minutes, then rinse. Finally, launder the swim trunks as usual.
  • Citrus-Based Cleaner: If stains still aren't lifting, try using a citrus-based cleaner. Scrub the stained area with the cleaner as instructed on the packaging and rinse with cold water. Launder the swim trunks as usual.

Additional Tips

  • If berry stain still remains after trying these methods, try soaking the swim trunks in a mixture of bleach and cold water. Be sure to follow all instructions on bleach bottle and adjust the bleach-to-water ratios accordingly.
  • No matter what method you use, always test cleaning agent on an inconspicuous part of the fabric first, such as an inner seam, to make sure it won't cause any discoloration or damage to the material.
  • After cleaning the swim trunks, hang them to dry in the shade. Avoid direct sunlight as this can cause fading.
