Begin by pre-treating the berry stain with a specialist stain remover. Liquid pre-treatments are ideal here as they are designed to penetrate deep into fabric and can help loosen the bond between the berry stain and the sweatpants. When using this kind of product, always follow the instructions on the packaging and take extra care when treating more delicate fabrics.
The next step is to soak the stained areas of sweatpants in warm water for around 30 minutes. This helps further break down the bonds between the berry stain and the sweatpants fabric, making it much easier to wash away.
Once the stain has been pre-treated and soaked, it’s time to wash the sweatpants. Ideally, use a gentle detergent, such as one designed specifically for delicate fabrics or a liquid laundry detergent. Use the recommended amount of detergent (according to the instructions on the packaging) and a cool temperature setting on the washing machine.
When the washing cycle is complete, make sure to check the sweatpants for any traces of berry stain. If there are still traces present, you may need to repeat steps 1-3, or try treating the stained area with a stain remover specifically developed for stubborn stains.
If the stain has been completely removed, you can now freely dry the sweatpants. Again, keep to a cool temperature setting to avoid damaging the fabric of sweatpants.
By following these five steps, you should be well on your way to successfully removing berry stains from sweatpants. Remember to always read the instructions on any cleaning products you use and to keep to the appropriate temperature settings when washing and drying.
