Fill a bowl or bucket with cold or lukewarm water and add a small amount of mild soap (like dishwashing liquid). Agitate the water with your hands to create suds. Submerge stained part of the sweater, working the soapy water into the stain. Once you feel that the stain has been removed, rinse the garment under running water.
Mix a solution of 1 part white vinegar and 2 parts salt and stir until dissolved. Dampen the stained fabric. Apply vinegar and salt mixture to the stained area and let it sit for 30 minutes. Then, rinse the garment with warm water and either machine wash or hand wash as normal.
Create a paste out of lemon juice and baking soda and spread it over the stained area. Let it sit for 30 minutes before washing the garment in lukewarm water. You can also use the same paste on dry-clean only items.
Dab a small amount of rubbing alcohol onto the affected area and allow it to sit for 10 minutes, then wash it with cool or lukewarm water. If stain persists, repeat the process.
Stains from berries may seem stubborn, but with the right tactics, you can keep your sweaters looking their best. With any of the above methods, you can tackle these tricky marks and keep your wardrobe looking fresh and clean.
