Strawberry, raspberry and other berry stains are some of the most common stains on sunglasses. Unfortunately, they can be difficult to remove if they are left untreated. Before beginning, it’s important to wash your hands thoroughly to prevent any dirt or oils transferring onto your lenses.
Start by soaking your lenses in warm water for 10-15 minutes. This should help to loosen the stain and make it easier to remove. Be sure not to scrub or rub too hard while your lenses are soaking, as this can damage the lenses or scratch them.
After soaking your lenses, use a clean microfiber cloth to gently blot at the stain. If the stain does not come off after a few attempts, try using a mild soap. Avoid using harsh chemicals or alcohol-based cleaners, as these can damage the lenses.
Once the stain has been removed, rinse your lenses with warm water to remove any residue. Follow this up by wiping down your lenses with a dry microfiber cloth before allowing them to air dry completely.
To make sure your lenses are safe from future berry stains, apply a thin layer of UV filter to the lenses. This will help protect your lenses from dust, dirt and other environmental factors. Make sure to apply filter carefully - any streaks left behind can cause glare and decrease visibility.
Finally, remember to keep your sunglasses clean by wiping them down regularly with a microfiber cloth. This will help keep your lenses free from dirt, debris and berry stains.
