What You'll Need

  • Bowl
  • Powder laundry detergent
  • Ammonia
  • White vinegar
  • Soft-bristled scrub brush
  • Toothbrush

Step 1: Soak Socks

Fill a bowl with warm water and add some powder laundry detergent. Submerge the soiled socks and let them soak for about 20 minutes. This will help dislodge the berry stain from the fabric fibers.

Step 2: Pretreat the Stains

Pour a small amount of ammonia onto the stained areas. Use a soft-bristled scrub brush and gently scrub stained areas. Not only will this help break up the stain, it will also help release some of color.

Step 3: Use White Vinegar

Mix equal parts white vinegar and warm water in a bowl. Soak the stained areas in the mixture for 30 minutes. This will help break down berry stain even further. After 30 minutes, use a toothbrush to gently scrub the stained areas.

Step 4: Rinse, Then Launder

Rinse the treated areas with cold water to remove any remaining traces of the stain. Finally, launder socks according to the instructions on the care label. Voila! Your beloved socks should now be good as new.
